Advanced Ground-Based Diagnostics

The advanced ground-based diagnostics system utilizes a computerized model of the helicopter systems' operational and maintainability characteristics to provide the maintainer with an optimal IETM troubleshooting strategy. The appropriate maintenance action starting point is software-determined through use of an inference engine. The advanced ground-based diagnostics system dynamically generates the testing strategy by leveraging various inputs such as:

• maintainer-entered
• on-board fault/BIT codes
• ground support equipment

The diagnostics is able to:

• adapt to real-world constraints such as current helicopter condition or unavailable resources
• prompt the maintainer with a sequence of setup operations, tests, associated multimedia, and/or eventual maintenance repair action
