Family Day Draws More Than 17,000 to Sikorsky Aircraft's Main Campus
"Family Day is all about fun, pride, and a celebration of our heritage," said Sikorsky President Jeffrey P. Pino. "Our founder, Igor I. Sikorsky, had a vision to build helicopters that save lives. His legacy demonstrates that one person with a powerful dream and the determination to achieve it can alter the course of human life. The products we make have saved more that two million lives since the first civilian and military helicopter rescues were accomplished more than 60 years ago, both by Sikorsky aircraft."
Pino added, "We also celebrate, as the larger Sikorsky family, our unity and shared commitment to all our employees, as well as our equally important commitments to our communities, customers, and shareholders. Sikorsky is a great place to work. On Family Day, we get to show why."
Aircraft displayed for viewing on the company's Flight Field included military CH-53E, UH-60A, CH-60S and UH-34 helicopters, as well as commercial S-92®, S-76C++TM, and S-76B helicopters. Displayed inside the Final Assembly hangars were the latest SEAHAWKTM; and BLACK HAWK helicopters.
As part of Family Day, which is celebrated biennially, Sikorsky also opened its other Connecticut facilities in Shelton, Trumbull and Bridgeport to employees, their families and guests.
